Pastor Kentray Sims, Sr. was born in Livingston, AL to Bessie M. Sims and the late Thessalonian Ruffin. God blessed Pastor Sims with the perfect helpmate when he met and married the love of his life, Cheryl Reeves of Birmingham, AL.  He is the proud father of three gifted and talented children, Keydren, Brelyn and Kentray, Jr. (KJ).

 

A product of the Sumter County, Alabama School System. Pastor Sims is a graduate of Livingston High School.  He received his undergraduate degree in Finance from Alabama A. & M. University, his MBA from Nova Southeastern University and attended Southeastern Bible College.  Pastor Sims is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., and is employed as the Director of Financial Aid at Herzing University – Birmingham.

 

Pastor Sims surrendered to God in 1982 by giving his life to Christ and was baptized by Pastor Tyrone Thomas, Sr. and became a disciple of Morning Star Baptist Church in Livingston, AL.  He would  later  organized H.Y. P. E. InChrist Ministry (Helping Young People Excel InChrist), a ministry for young people designed to help them make Godly decisions in life by following the Life of Christ.

 

In 2002, he heard the voice of God calling him to become a minister of the Gospel.  Being obedient, Pastor Sims said yes to God and was licensed by his Spiritual Father, Pastor Tyrone Thomas, Sr. and served faithfully at Morning Star Baptist Church until God positioned him for a new assignment.  Pastor Sims was ordained in 2008 and became the Servant Leader of Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church – Livingston, AL.

 

Pastor Sims truly has a heart for Christ and for the people he serves.   As Pastor of Pine Grove, he  has continued and expanded the H.Y.P.E. InChrist Ministry and continues an established ministry that honors the senior saints  each year with a special service that acknowledges their contributions, wisdom  and spirit.  He and First Lady Sims work with the youth praise and mime teams honoring God and blessing the congregation through the arts and dance. God has also given Pastor Sims an awesome vision to build the church Family Center of Life facility where the members and community can come together in Godly fellowship in a beautiful, state of the art building.

 

Pastor Sims desire is to honor God through obedience, bring people to Christ by “meeting them where they are,” helping them to grow in the Word of God so that they can have God’s best and win souls for the Kingdom.
